An eclipse day needs a plan for sun exposure, safe viewing and the period before and after the event. The equipment decision should be made early enough to obtain appropriate products from reliable suppliers.
Follow the American Astronomical Society’s current viewing guidance and plan shade, water and a comfortable waiting arrangement. Ask an astronomy specialist about any camera or optical equipment.
Ordinary sunglasses are not eclipse viewers. Do not look through an unfiltered camera, telescope or binoculars, even while wearing eclipse glasses.
Astronomical predictions establish the event and path; a travel supplier must separately confirm the viewing venue and transport. Weather and access arrangements are different uncertainties. Check current information near departure and do not treat an ordinary sightseeing package as reserved eclipse-day access.
